New Climate Zero and Carbon Neutral partnership streamlines corporate sustainability journey
We’re proud to partner with Carbon Neutral, making it easier for Australian businesses to accurately measure, reduce and offset carbon emissions in one place, with confidence.
At Climate Zero, our mission has always been to remove barriers between businesses and net zero. And we’ve been doing that for more than 15 years – helping businesses measure and reduce emissions with carbon accounting software that’s accurate and easy to use. Because like anything, corporate sustainability is easier with the right tools and support.
Now, we’re excited to add to that, further streamlining the path to net zero for businesses via our partnership with Carbon Neutral.
Carbon Neutral is a leading project developer and offset provider, driving impactful action against climate change and biodiversity loss through high-integrity, nature-based and socially beneficial solutions.
As far as we know, this is the first partnership of its kind in Australia. Here’s what it means and why it’s important.
What our partnership means
In a nutshell, our partnership with Carbon Neutral makes it easier for businesses to progress their sustainability goals and make a positive impact.
Right from within the Climate Zero carbon accounting app, users can now compare, choose and purchase carbon credits directly from Carbon Neutral, and keep track of how these purchases offset their organisation’s emissions.
Climate Zero Managing Director, Tai Lennon, explains why this is so exciting to share with our customers and the broader corporate community.
“There will always be residual emissions that an organisation simply cannot reduce. This is where carbon credits have an important part to play in reaching net zero. Our customers already using Climate Zero to measure and reduce emissions can now easily access Carbon Neutral’s high-integrity credits directly from within our app,” Tai said.
“This extends to all companies who care about sustainability. With emissions measurement, offsetting and reporting all in one place, it’s now much easier for companies to keep progressing towards reaching their net zero goals.”
Carbon Neutral CEO Phil Ireland agreed and said the partnership was a natural collaboration that made it easier for businesses to have a positive impact.
“We help turn ambition into real, measurable impact by providing businesses with trusted carbon solutions that restore ecosystems and support communities, and this partnership does exactly that,” Phil said.
“With the ability to measure, offset, and report on emissions all in one place, we’re not only removing administrative barriers but also making it easier for businesses of all sizes to take credible climate action.”
Where carbon offsets fit in the climate challenge
Reducing emissions remains the top priority to reach net zero, and helping our economy shift from depletion to regeneration.
However, carbon offsets and carbon credits also play an important part in achieving this because of the greenhouse gas emissions already locked into the atmosphere. This means we need to sequester emissions through nature-based regeneration, such as tree planting, which can also have other benefits including restoring ecosystems and regenerating native landscapes.
However, carbon markets can be complex and it’s not always as simple as buying credits and offsetting emissions, as explained below.
Why we chose Carbon Neutral as our partner
As an established carbon accounting platform, we’re often approached by carbon offset providers. However, with our sustainability history and experience, we know that carbon credits are not all created equally.
To really trust carbon credits are actually offsetting emissions, you need to know who is selling them and what their projects involve, rather than it being a blind transaction from a long list of resellers.
That’s why we’ve done our research and chosen to partner with Carbon Neutral, working directly with a carbon offset project developer. We have seen first-hand the impact these projects are having not just to generate carbon credits but also to restore native landscapes, preserve biodiversity, return land to Traditional Owners and permanently remove carbon from the atmosphere.
“Our partnership is based on trust and integrity, because if you’re serious about reducing emissions, your offsets should be as real as your commitments,” Tai said.
